Aline Smithson, the juror for the Dreams exhibition at The Center for Fine Art Photography, defines a dream as, “a personal goal, a life fantasy, a desire, and an ethereal scramble of ideas and imagery ripe for interpretation.” The 62 works selected by her in this exhibition illustrate these themes extensively from the otherworldly and surreal to amplified moments of daily routine. Images that encourage us to question where we’ve come from, where we’re going, and what role our dreams play in understanding ourselves.

My photograph, “Ladder at 15,000 Feet” taken at Mont Blanc, France was selected.

This same image received a Bronze Award from the International Loupe Awards for 2011.

Juror Debra Klomp Ching has selected the same image, “Ladder at 15,000 Feet” for First Place in the Places Category in PWP’s International Women’s Juried Exhibition. The image will be in a group show at Manhattan’s .NO Gallery in May, an online exhibition, and will appear in a feature article in the January issue of PWP’s IMPRINTS Magazine.

WPGA recognizes artists’ talent through competitions juried by industry leaders, exposing their work in the media, publishing their work, hosting  collective exhibitions, and by exhibiting their work to an extensive international audience through WonderPick Gallery, an art portal where selected artworks can be viewed online and purchased (to be launched shortly). WPGA believes that its competitions cannot avoid recognizing photography’s history. As such, WPGA strongly feels it has a social responsibility to the most needy throughout world. To help in fulfilling its social responsibility, WPGA has chosen the nongovernmental organization Save the Children as beneficiary of ten percent of the proceeds from the contest revenues.

Women In Photography International’s “Faces” exhibition has chosen two of Joyce’s images.  This exhibition consists of fascinating images from every decade of life up to 100 years old.

“Little Eve”, in the child category,  looks oblivious to the snake draped casually around her neck, shoulder bared and hair askew.

“Princess Bride”,  in the 20′s category. was taken at a lavish Pakistani wedding over a 7 day period.  Colored outfits were  chosen for the particular day-a certain day for yellow or blue, etc.  In her beautiful beaded red wedding dress, seated on a elevated throne, enclosed by a structure of draped red and white carnations, she was admired by all.
